The focus is on young people from Europe and Russia

The International Conference "Youth of Europe and Russia. Europe and the European Union through the eyes of researches" was held in 17-19 May 2018 in Tomsk State University. The conference is the result of the project "Jean Monnet Center of Excellence: Focus on youth". The organizers of this event are the Director of Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence, Professor Larisa Deriglazova and Director of Research Centre for International Organizations and Network Structures, Professor Sergei Miroshnikov. The conference was attended by researchers from universities of Russia, Finland and France.

Irkutsk State University was represented at the conference by Professors of Historical faculty - Elizaveta Matveeva and Ilya Oleinikov and a post-graduate student Nadezhda Chugunova. Elizaveta Matveeva spoke about Italian youth "as a subject and object in the process of European identity construction". Presentation of Ilya Oleinikov was about youth exchanges between Irkutsk and European partners. Nadezhda Chugunova analyzed the official documents and public discourse of the Breton Party and Breton Democratic Union towards the EU and the French state.

A collection of papers was published, and a collective monograph is planned for publication.

Participation of Irkutsk researchers in the conference contributed to the establishment of new contacts and the development of further cooperation with colleagues.
