Regional aspects of contemporary international relations
The course is compulsory for BA students of International Relations. It focuses on regional aspects of contemporary international relations taking European region as example. In order to show the role and place of Europe in the system of international relations, the course covers the issues of regional integration, indicates peculiar characteristics of the region, overviews security system in the region, characterizes the policy of individual EU state actors as well as common foreign policy of the EU.
The syllabus covers the following themes:
1) Regions of the world and regional subsystems of international relations,
2) European region in the system of international relations. Its characteristics,
3) Integration process in European region,
4) European security architecture,
5) Activities of regional organizations,
6) The main priorities of EU common foreign and defense policy,
7) The relationship between national foreign policy strategies and European common foreign policy,
8) Peculiarities of the EU as international actor.
